Designing Conversational Media: In Collaboration with Designers at the Mayo Clinic - Shared Decision Making Guide
Joint UI design with Jennifer Teeter in Axure RP. Project studio course was a collaboration with designers at the Mayo Clinic who were interested in a design for a digital user interface based on the printed guide for depression medication choices that is jointly used by the doctor and patient during the appointment. Questions that were addressed included: What affects the decision making of the patient? Based on the cards, what is important in the design and interactivity? See the process book and prototype!
Original Guide
Printed shared-decision guide for depression medication choices is jointly used by the doctor and patient during appointment to choose which medication may work best for the patient based on needs balanced with best care.
Brainstorming
Jennifer and I brainstormed several ideas to begin designing our digital prototype. This was based on recorded interviews and input from mentors who work at the Mayo Clinic.
Early Iteration
One iteration was based on a table design where the patient and doctor can choose and eliminate based on real-life factors that impact the patient's quality of life.
Final Prototype
The final prototype allows the doctor and patient to select each individual factoring issue and can toggle the selections at the top main navigation to show one at a time. Could also click on the "pills" to gain more information about their side effects and there is an additional "anecdotes" feature to see IRL feedback about the medication.
